The purpose of this site is simple. Compile quality running routes in the New York City area. We can all take a map and mark out a running route using major roads, and often that seems to be the case when you search for a route on any of a number of Google.map-inspired sites. The criteria here are different. These are routes that one wouldn’t think of in pulling out a map. In particular, the objective is to find quality routes that are off main roads as much as possible and practical.
In the winter especially when parks can be off-limits for extended periods and large amounts of snow may be on the ground, these routes I hope will provide viable alternatives.
I live in Southern Westchester and have posted a number of routes. In my case, I start and finish them at the Bronxville Running Company and have run them many many times. I would like to include any routes people have. If you have one, send me a link from http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/ — after you map the route you hit “Save route” on the left and copy and email the link — with a description of why it’s worth including. When you map it, start from a common area.
The pages will be put up as are the pages on the Westchester Page.
